BookYourHunt.com goes Wine, Wheels and Wildlife

James Reed at the Wine, Wheels and Wildlife event

On October 11, 2017, BookYourHunt.com founders Aleksei Agafonov, Jim Shockey, and Director for North America James Reed attended Wine, Wheels and Wildlife, an annual Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation event at Richard Childress’s Childress Wineries in North Carolina, USA. And although admiring NASCAR racing machines from Childress’s team, wine testing, and hanging out with people like Donald J. Trump, Jr. and Secretary of Interior Ryan Zinke sounds like pure fun, in fact it is an important work for the sake of America’s outdoor heritage. If you take a few minutes to read this, we’ll explain why and how.

American hunters make a tremendous contribution to the nation’s environment protection and economy. The contribution runs far beyond the hunters’ proportion in the population. Now that hunting is increasingly under attack by forces using the ignorance of the urban majority, removed from the realities of life, hunters more than ever need proper representation in the democratic government process.

The Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation is a non-for-profit organization that exists for this very purpose – in simple words, to resist anti-hunting legislation, and to promote for-hunting legislation. It unites people from all ends of political spectrum who share the same passion for the outdoors and respect for the outdoorsmen. Enough is to say that an active member of the CSF is the present Secretary of Interior Ryan Zinke, famous for his effort to improve Americans’ access to hunting, fishing and recreational shooting on federal lands.

Wine, Wheels and Wildlife is one of the events designed to bring together the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation and the leaders of the outdoor industry – and also to raise money so that the CSF’s pro-sportsmen voice sounds even louder across all branches of the U.S. government.

At last year’s event, BookYourHunt.com donated a buffalo hunt in Mozambique (James Reed described a similar hunt in his story) for the charity auction. The proceeds will go to support CSF. This year we made the same offer, and one lucky person now has the double pleasure of enjoying a thrilling adventure and knowing their money will support that which is so valuable to them. As we said in a previous blog story, each hunter who travels to a responsible outfitter running a fair-chase, sustainable operation, is making an investment into our wildlife’s survival. Likewise, each of us who contribute to the defense of hunting throughout the democratic process is also helping the environment.

BookYourHunt.com is proud to be taking part in this (and, well, to be completely honest, the cars, wine and company were top notch!).
